Hail Damage Repair

Monsoon hail can leave dozens or hundreds of small dents on the roof, hood and trunk. Insurance pays for hail under comprehensive coverage, and the count and size of the dents drive the estimate.

What it involves

We map each panel, count and size the dents, and photograph everything for your claim. Many hail dents come out with paintless dent repair (PDR), which pushes the metal back from behind the panel and never touches your factory paint. Panels with cracked paint, dents on a body line, or very heavy damage are repaired conventionally or replaced and refinished.

Hail is a comprehensive claim: no fault, no points, and usually no rate increase. You choose the shop, not the insurer. Send us your claim number and we handle the dent count, the estimate, the supplement if the adjuster's first number is low, and the parts. Your comprehensive deductible applies, and Best Deal's deductible assistance covers up to $1,000 of it on qualifying repairs, so most hail customers pay nothing out of pocket.

You don't have to drive anywhere for a number. Photograph each panel at an angle so the dents show in the reflection, send four photos and your VIN from your phone, and a Best Deal estimator emails you a written range the same business day. Light hail (roof or hood only) is usually two to three days of PDR; a car with dents on every panel and cracked paint is one to three weeks.

After a big Valley storm, out-of-state PDR crews set up in parking lots. Some do good work; none have a Glendale address to come back to if a dent cracks the paint, and insurers don't always pay their invoices. We're at 51st Ave and Olive year-round, and our hail repairs carry the same warranty as any other repair.

Common questions

Does insurance cover hail damage?

Hail is covered under the comprehensive part of an auto policy, which most financed and leased cars carry. You pay your comprehensive deductible; the insurer pays the rest. Comprehensive claims are no-fault and most Arizona insurers don't raise rates for one.

Can hail dents be fixed without painting?

Often yes. Paintless dent repair works on most hail dents when the paint is intact and the dent isn't on a sharp body line. The factory paint is never touched, which matters for resale and for leased cars.

How much does hail damage repair cost?

Light hail (a few dozen small dents): $1,500 to $3,500. Moderate (a hundred or more dents): $3,500 to $7,500. Severe (cracked paint, broken glass): $7,500 and up. These are Valley ranges; your number comes from counting the dents, and a comprehensive claim with deductible assistance usually means $0 to you.

Can I get a hail estimate from photos?

Yes. Shoot each panel at an angle so the dents show in the reflection (straight-on photos hide hail), send four photos and your VIN, and you get a written range the same business day. The exact count happens when the car is here, about an hour.

How long does hail repair take?

Roof-only or hood-only PDR: two to three days. Dents on most panels: about a week. Cracked paint, replacement panels or glass: one to three weeks, depending on parts.

Will my car be totaled?

Insurers total a car when the repair plus salvage value crosses roughly 65 to 75 percent of what the car is worth. Older cars with heavy hail can get close; newer cars rarely total from hail alone. If you're near the line we'll tell you before you decide.

Deductible waived up to $1,000

Don't let the deductible hold up the repair.

For many drivers the deductible is the hardest part of an accident. Ask about deductible assistance: on qualifying repairs we can reduce what you pay out of pocket by up to $1,000, and you see the exact amount in writing before work starts.

Assistance is a discount on our side of the repair. We never inflate an estimate or bill your insurer for your deductible. Eligibility depends on the repair and your policy.

  1. Tell us your deductibleShare the collision or comprehensive deductible on your policy.
  2. We review the repairOnce the estimate is approved, we see what we can take off.
  3. You get it in writingYour out-of-pocket amount is on paper before we start.

Send a few photos. We'll take it from there.
